Fine Family Mahogany Shoninger Spinet Going Home!
It's always great to see a cherished family piano stay in the family. This instrument was surely a "Diamond in the rough" when received in our shop a few months ago. However the work needed was predictable and routine. This is the typical maintenance and care that these instruments require once they reach 50 years or so of age. For example: All 88 action elbow were brittle and breaking. They needed replacement with fresh new parts. The strings and tuning pins also needed pitch repair and repeated tunings. The dip was very shallow and needed correcting and of course complete clean up, tightening and lubrication of the action. She's on her way home to Griffith, Indiana - next week!
