Piano Repair West Virginia WVPiano Restoration and Repair
in West Virginia

If you own a piano that is due or even over-due for quality refinishing, repair or restoration of any kind, from Accoville to Hambleton, to Powellton to Huttonsville to Charleston to Ravencliff, your piano repair is as close as the entrance to your local interstate highway. Our expert movers are picking up, delivering & delighting piano lovers all across West Virginia and the country every day with pianos we repair and restore.

Proper Piano Damper Action

To work properly, piano dampers need to be perfectly aligned with the strings and they need to be able to move up and down without obstructions. When a piano comes into our shop to be restored or repaired -- as a part of our 25 piano restoration process -- we test each key, insuring that the keys will depress and return correctly without extra motion, without any hindrances, lifting from and resting at the perfect distance from the string, making sure that the lifting felt is exactly the right width, that the leather punchings are clean and without damage or ware, and that the damper pedal rod socket is clean and without need or repair or replacement. Of course, we make sure that all the dampers lift at exactly the same time and with a soft, silent lift that is exactly even. And we check the damper stop rail to eliminate any superfluous play.

When your piano's dampers are in proper working order, you will notice a difference in the feel of the piano, in the way it plays. This and other aspects of piano regulation is exacting work and we do not recommend that someone untrained in piano restoration and repair attempt to do the work. Remember measurements are exact and the fitting of the parts requires not only the correct parts, but the correct tools and an understanding of the physical interplay.
